Radiation Oncologists

The radiation oncologist is your physician who will oversee your radiation therapy treatments. The radiation oncologist is a member of the radiation oncology department of Fox Chase Cancer Center, one of the preeminent providers of urologic radiation oncology care in the country. Fox Chase radiation oncologists have developed techniques for treating prostate cancer that are utilized throughout the country and around the world.

The Prostate Center is proud to have Mark Sobczak, M.D. on staff. Dr. Sobczak is an expert in intensity modulated radiation therapy; image guided radiation therapy, brachytherapy, and three-dimensional treatment planning. Before joining the staff at Fox Chase, Sobczak served as a regional medical director in Maryland and Delaware for 21st Century Oncology, headquartered in Fort Myers, Florida. Previously he was Chairman of oncology for the Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, VA. Among his honors, the American Cancer Society named Dr. Sobczak a clinical oncology fellow.

Dr. Sobczak is a distinguished graduate of the United States Naval Academy, serving as an antisubmarine aircraft commander, naval aviator, and research test pilot for the United States Navy before entering medical school. He received his M.D. from the Uniformed Services University for Health Sciences and held a transitional internship at the National Navy Medical Center before completing his residency training at Massachusetts General Hospital.
